Popis udalosti/akcie/projektu:
Dominika Ďurovčíková is using Webb telescope data to investigate ancient quasars – and the mystery of how supermassive black holes formed so quickly in the early universe. The observations provided by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) have substantially advanced our understanding of the early universe. Dominika Ďurovčíková, a PhD candidate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research, is one of a select number of scientists using those same observations to shed light on active supermassive black holes known as quasars from when the first galaxies in the universe were formed. Studying at one of the world’s best universities came about through an unusual, but simple, approach that has served her well throughout her career and other endeavours, including co-founding a non-profit to help young women find their path through life.
