When Graeme Connor first visited Slovakia, he was incredibly surprised at how the rolling highlands around Oberon echoed the mountainous scenery of Habovka, a village in Slovakia's Orava region. In a first, the Australian talked to The Slovak Spectator about how his Slovak ancestors found their way to the far-away Australian continent and how he is now trying to piece the family story together with relatives who still live in Slovakia, discovering information that was kept hidden. With one exception, this series has focused so far on immigrants to the US and their descendants. After all, that is where thousands upon thousands moved. But that was not the only part of the world they went to, far from it; some travelled as far away as Australia.
